The new bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin where the ferry used to cross means getting to Skye by road is now relatively speedy throughout the year. Allow 2 hours from Inverness or 4 from Glasgow.

Once you are over the bridge, head for the A851 between Broadford and Armadale. Take the turning for Isleornsay and after half a mile take the right turn for Camuscross.

Our approximate location is shown on this On-Line-Map (Scale1:2500). Grid Reference 699116.

For many, approaching Skye from Mallaig remains a firm favourite ensuring that the first steps on the Island follow a 20 minute ferry trip.

The drive to Mallaig has benefited from the upgrade of the main road. If you have time, coming to Skye by one route and returning by another is recommended to really appreciate the strikingly different landscapes.

Another less well known but particularly scenic route is the car ferry from Glenelg to Kylerhea that runs from Easter to October.

Skye can be reached either by a train service running from Inverness to Kyle or Fort William to Mallaig. If you are coming from London, its worth checking out the overnight sleeper from Euston to Mallaig.
